On Saturday, Sept. 23 at 10:21 p.m., the Evesham Police Department responded to Mikado Japanese Sushi & Steak House, 793 East Route 70, for a report of a robbery, according to Evesham Police Chief Walt Miller.

An investigation found that a lone male suspect entered the business after closing time, Miller said. The suspect pepper sprayed (possibly bear spray) the victim, bound her hands and feet, and duct taped her mouth, Miller said.

The suspect then accessed the cash register, stole the contents — an undisclosed amount of cash — and fled the scene in an unknown direction, Miller said.

The victim remained bound in the business until she was located by her co-worker. The victim was treated at Virtua Hospital and released.

A similar incident occurred in Medford Township, also Burlington County, on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 10:20 p.m. The suspect during that robbery was wearing all black clothing and a mask. During that robbery, the suspect sprayed the victim with grizzly bear spray and stole his wallet.

The vehicle shown was seen in the area of the Medford robbery and "could be related" to the Evesham suspect, Miller said.

If anyone has any information related to this crime or observed suspicious activity in the area, you are urged to contact the Evesham Police Department at 856-983-1116, the confidential tip line 856-983-4699, or anonymous tip text, ETPDTIP at 847411.
